Dr. Ian Dobbie joins JHU as its new Director of the Integrated Imaging Center (IIC)

The Department of Biology is pleased to welcome Dr. Ian Dobbie, who will be assuming the role of Director of the Integrated Imaging Center!

Dr. Dobbie comes to us from the Micron Advanced Bioimaging Unit of the University of Oxford where he led the advanced imaging hardware and software development teams as Technical Director for the past five years, developing Micron into a large, well-funded facility. In this position, Dr. Dobbie managed a team of postdoctoral researchers involved in multiple bespoke microscopy projects involving extensive collaborations both within and outside the University. These projects focused particularly on superresolution imaging, producing high-impact papers, using structured illumination microscopy, single-molecule localization microscopy and correlative cryo-fluorescence imaging.

We are very excited about the leadership and innovation that Dr. Dobbie will bring to the IIC. Because of COVID restrictions for travel from the UK, Ian will be working remotely from July 1, 2021, and will transition on-site as soon as restrictions are lifted.
