Congrats to Ernesto on Receiving the 2024 Lavoisier Medal & Plenary Speaker Recognition at ISBC!

Ernesto Freire

We are proud to share that our esteemed faculty member, Ernesto Freire, was awarded the prestigious Lavoisier Medal for 2024 by the International Society of Biological Calorimetry (ISBC). Along with this distinguished honor, Ernesto also delivered a plenary lecture at the ISBC conference, held earlier this year—a remarkable recognition of his contributions to the field of biological calorimetry.

The Lavoisier Medal is an accolade presented by the ISBC to internationally acknowledged scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the development and application of direct calorimetry in biology and medicine. Ernesto’s work, which has significantly advanced our understanding in these areas, exemplifies the excellence that the Lavoisier Medal represents. This award highlighted his innovative research and commitment to furthering the use of calorimetric methods to address fundamental questions in biology and medical science.

The ISBC conference took place from April 7-11, 2024, at Hotel il Ciocco in Tuscany, Italy, and brought together leading researchers from around the world. Ernesto’s plenary lecture was a highly anticipated highlight, where he shared insights from his groundbreaking work. The academic program included a variety of sessions that covered the latest advancements in calorimetry, thermodynamics, and related fields, reflecting the dynamic growth and diverse applications of these disciplines in biological research.

Ernesto’s recognition with the Lavoisier Medal and his role as a plenary speaker underscored the impact of his contributions on a global scale. His work not only advances scientific knowledge but also inspires future developments in the field. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ernesto on this well-deserved honor and celebrate the valuable perspectives he brought to the ISBC 2024 conference.
